The Willoughby Club

The Willoughby Club was launched in 1983 to raise funds for the Opera House. The club was named after Arthur Willoughby the first Opera House Manager. The patron of the Willoughby Club is the Duchess of Devonshire.

The club has about 140 members who meet for lunch on the last Thursday of each month at the Lee Wood Hotel in Buxton. The monthly meetings take place from March to October and feature a guest speaker.

The club has raised more than £60,000 since it was launched. All money raised goes towards the purchase of new equipment for the theatre, such as the refurbishment of the Upper Circle Bar which is now known as the Willoughby Bar.
