Charles Court Opera

Alongside their production of The Mikado, the "masters of G&S in small spaces" Charles Court Opera, bring a brand new, magical production of Iolanthe.

Fairy revels are not what they were since Iolanthe was banished from the fairy ring, and the House of Peers are fighting over Phyllis, who is in love with Strephon, a half-fairy, and Iolanthe's son with the Lord Chancellor himself. Cueing a feud that throws the whole house of Lords, and fairyland, into chaos, this delicious comedy feels as relevant today as it ever did. Combine with Sullivan's passionately beautiful and heroic music, this is one of the most sophisticated, yet uproarious, of the Savoy Operas.

CCO's newest production promises to be one of their finest to date, with a cast of regular artists directed by John Savournin.

“An irresistible staging.”
