We’ve introduced a number of Covid safety measures to make you feel safe and comfortable when you come back to our venues. It will take slightly longer to get customers in and out of the building, so please be patient with our staff and volunteers.
We have been granted the use of Society Of London Theatre & UK Theatre's 'See It Safely' mark. The mark certifies that we are complying with the latest Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, to ensure the safety of our staff and audiences. You can find out more below about the measures we have been putting in place ready for your visit, and what you will need to know beforehand.
Before your visit
We’ve made a few changes to make sure that you feel safe and comfortable when you visit, but we’ll send you a pre-show email a couple of days before you come to make sure you have all the information you need.
Please do not come to the Box Office, theatre or cinema if you have any symptoms of Covid-19. We’re asking customers to arrive 30 minutes before the start of the performance so that we can keep any queues moving steadily. You will be asked to stand in a socially distanced queue to get into the theatre and cinema. As the queues are outside, and it’s Buxton, it’s worth checking the weather forecast before you set off. While you’re queuing you’ll see the NHS track and Trace QR code, please scan using your smart phone if you can.
As per government guidance, customers will not be required to show their NHS Covid Pass or proof of a negative test result to gain entry.
Following the government's latest announcement, face coverings are now mandatory in theatres and cinemas. You will be required to wear a face covering on entry to the building and at all times when you are in the theatre or cinema (except when you’re eating and drinking), unless you are exempt. Exemptions include (but are not limited to) children under 11, and people with a health condition or disability.
If you arrive and do not have a mask, our Front of House team will be happy to provide one. Our staff and volunteers will be wearing their usual uniform, name badge and a mask.
As you go into the auditorium we usually take your ticket off you to check where you’re sitting, instead, to avoid unnecessary paper handling, we’ll ask for your seat number and direct you towards your seat. Please only sit in your allocated seat.
You’ll notice several new Covid related signs around the building. As we can’t operate a one way system due to the nature of the theatre, please keep left as you move around the building. There is also signage that tells you to how many people are allowed in any room, please check before you go in and maintain social distancing at all times.
If you would like interval drinks, please pre-order on arrival at one of our bars. We’re limited to how many people can be in the bars at any time, so please leave plenty of time.
There is a sanitiser station in the foyer of both the Opera House and Buxton Cinema, but there is an understanding that customers are responsible for their own personal hygiene.
We have introduced an enhanced cleaning regime throughout our venues that includes regular cleaning of high traffic touchpoints throughout the day and misting of all areas every 28 days.
You will leave the building by the same door you entered.
Refunds will not be given unless an event is cancelled. We offer optional refund protection at the point of ticket sale through Booking Protect. More information about their Covid policy is available here: https://bookingprotect.com/cor... Refund protection cannot be purchased after you’ve bought your tickets.
