Callum Smart attracted wide public attention at the age of thirteen having won the strings category of the 2010 BBC Young Musicians Competition performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Vasily Petrenko. In the same year he went on to become the top European prize-winner at the Menuhin Competition and now enjoys critical acclaim for his lyrical and accomplished interpretations. He is now based in Manchester taking up a place on the International Artist Diploma post-graduate course at the Royal Northern College of Music. He previously attended the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Chetham’s School of Music.
Hailing originally from Glasgow, Philip Sharp recently completed his postgraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music under Prof. Frank Wibaut. Prior to this, Philip graduated from both Manchester University and the RNCM with a First Class Honours degree on the prestigious ‘Joint Course’. From 2009-2016, Philip studied with Dr. Murray McLachlan at Chetham’s School of Music and the RNCM respectively. Philip is currently the John Wilson Junior Fellow in Accompaniment at the RNCM.
