Charles Owen studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music, London with Irina Zaritskaya, and privately with Imogen Cooper. He won the Silver Medal at the Scottish International Piano Competition (1995) and the 1997 Parkhouse Award.
Charles has appeared at London’s Barbican Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Wigmore Hall, and internationally at the Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Musikverein and the Moscow Conservatoire. Chamber music partners include Julian Rachlin, Augustin Hadelich and Nicholas Daniel, as well as the Takács Quartet. He has performed concertos with the Philharmonia, Royal Scottish National, Halle & Aurora orchestras, and has recorded solo piano music by Bach, Brahms, Liszt, Janácek, Poulenc and Fauré. Together with his piano duo partner Katya Apekisheva he curates the London Piano Festival held at Kings Place. Charles is a professor at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, a Guest Professor at RWCMD and Steinway & Sons UK Ambassador.
