Schumann String Quartet No. 3 in A major, Op. 41 No. 3

The Faros Quartet was formed in the autumn of 2017 and is comprised of current and former students of the Royal Northern College of Music. The group has taken its name from Peter Maxwell Davies' Naxos Quartet No. 5, Lighthouses of Orkney and Shetland, which they performed at the RNCM Chamber Music Festival in March 2018 to enthusiastic reviews.

Collectively the members of the quartet have amassed a wealth of experience as soloists, orchestral and session musicians, and have given chamber recitals across the UK and abroad, appearing at festivals which include the Salisbury International Arts Festival and the Llandeilo Festival of Music.

Passionate about new music, the ensemble has recently performed works by Pierre Boulez, George Benjamin and Toru Takemitsu, and they have also been approached to premiere a new string quartet by the Greek composer Manolis Ekmektsoglou.

All performers appear by kind permission of the RNCM.
