Carey Mulligan stars as Cassie in Emerald Fennell’s gripping, controversial and hugely enjoyable debut feature film. The ‘subject’ of the film is sexual violence by men towards women - specifically violence by ‘decent’ men directed at women who seem out-of-control and inevitable victims. It takes on head-first the arguments of rape apologists. It’s a darkly comic revenge movie and Mulligan’s performance is a revelation. The sharply-crafted script - which won the Original Screenplay Oscar this year - and production links to Killing Eve makes it a film not to be missed – you’ll be cheering in the aisles…
