It is with huge regret that Buxton International Festival must announce that due to ill health Lord Skidelsky will not be able to appear on Tuesday 9 July at 10.30am – 11.30am. All ticket money for this event will be automatically refunded to your method of payment. Where a card has expired or tickets have been paid for in cash the money will be refunded by cheque.

The event Perspectives: The Future of the Economy with Dame Frances Cairncross will go ahead. Chaired by Felicity Goodey this will be a fascinating conversation between two influential women from both the financial and media world.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Lord Skidelsky FBA is the pre-eminent biographer of Keynes. Against the backdrop of punishing austerity agendas and the threat of financial collapse, Skidelsky contests the dominant view that money and government should play only a minor role in economic life and argues for a new way forward. By showing that much of economic is far from being the hard science it claims to be, the next generation of economists should be emboldened to break free and embrace Keynes’ ‘big idea’.
