Sonas Flutes are a flute quartet made up of 4th year undergraduates at the Royal Northern College of Music. Its members are Jack Belcher, Isabeau Hansen, Matthew Jones and Sinead Walsh. Founded in 2018, the group has enjoyed rehearsing a vast amount of repertoire, from Anton Reicha and Friedrich Kuhlau, to Mike Mower and brand new commissions. In March 2022, Sonas Flutes presented their first spotlight concert at the RNCM having reached the final of the Fewkes Chamber Music Prize in the same week. They have been tutored by a range of professionals over the last four years, including Laura Jellicoe, Emer McDonough, Rob Buckland, Kevin Gowland, Chris Swann and Petr Prause.
