About Morelia Piano Trio
Relax and enjoy our lunchtime Coffee Concert. With a complimentary coffee (or tea) and biscuits, our daytime recitals are the perfect musical pit stop.
All musicians appear by the kind permission of the Royal Northern College of Music.
The Morelia Trio was formed at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in 2024 and has quickly established itself as a dynamic chamber ensemble. In 2025 they won the RNCL Nossek Prize and later the RNCM Christopher Rowland Chamber Ensemble of the Year for their performance of Smetana's Piano Trio. Following their success they were chosen to represent the RNCM at the donor's concert, performing Debussy's Piano Trio, and will soon represent the RNCM in a recital at the Royal Overseas League in London.
Each member performs regularly as a soloist. Rhys was a finalist in the 2025 Barbirolli Cello Prize and has performed Roxanna Panufnik's All Shall Be Well at London's Wigmore Hall. Jack regularly performs concertos and has played The Lark Ascending at Manchester Museum. Elio has appeared on From the Top and is a recipient of the Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award. Individually, the trio members have performed with major orchestras, Elio joining the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for their Latino Alliance Concert, and Jack and Rhys participating in schemes with the Manchester Camerata and BBC Philharmonic.
While studying, they have received coaching from artists including Kathryn Stott, Petr Prause, Jeremy Young, and Benjamin Frith, and regularly present engaging recital programmes across the UK.
