Moving Stories: Buxton

“If you don't know the trees you may be lost in the forest, but if you don't know the stories you may be lost in life.”

When was the last time you stopped to talk to a stranger? To find out their story? What brought them to this place? Everyone has a story – and often we are too busy to listen. In the speed of modern day life, we rarely take time to stop, look and listen. We believe that “A story is the shortest distance between people.” (Pat Speight)

Award winning Moving Stories Theatre Company is proud to be invited to collaborate with Buxton Opera House to spend time in Buxton in June, to listen to, collect and gather stories of local people from all walks of life. These stories will be carefully collated and shared on social media platforms, as a way of rippling out the truths we have heard.

Our specially trained team of story collectors will be roaming the area, seeking out stories that might otherwise go unheard. Watch out for our team from 9th – 14th June, who will sensitively invite local people to share their story with us.

Keep checking back on our website to see where our story collectors will be throughout the week.

Moving Stories is directed and facilitated by Emma Gersch and Kitty Randle.

“It was like having a precious key & window into the remarkable, moving stories of the amazing and wonderful local people.”

“A lovely hour of discovery. Reminds you that outside of the hustle and bustle of city life there are true human stories that are very humbling and grounding.”
