Apply to star in our thrilling production of Sweeney Todd

Local performers are being sought out once more to star in our latest amateur production of Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street. Following on from Oliver! and West Side Story, Buxton Opera House Chief Executive, and director of the UK Hairspray tour, Paul Kerryson will be once again taking the directors seat. Paul and a creative team will be on hand to pass on their expertise.

Paul said: “This is a superb opportunity for local singers and performers to appear in one of the most famous musicals of all time. We are looking for singers and actors of all genders to perform the iconic roles in this gloriously murderous tale of revenge. You will be supported by all the professional expertise of the Opera House. If you are aged 16 or over please apply for an audition via the website. Good luck!”

Anyone who is aged over 16 and is interested in auditioning must download and return a completed application form to [email protected] by Monday 20 December 2021. 16 year olds will need to be in Year 12. Application forms are available for download below. Auditions for all roles will be held on Saturday 8 January 2022 at 10am at Buxton Opera House.

Sweeney Todd - The Demon Barber Of Fleet Street is a musical thriller with superb music and lyrics by the greatest contemporary musical composer, Stephen Sondheim. Todd arrives in London following deportation and imprisonment in Australia, seeking blood thirsty revenge. A chance meeting with Mrs Lovett in her East End pie shop brings a deadly accomplice to his schemes, with an outrageously humorous and chilling plan.

Since Victorian times, the public have had a macabre fascination with this shocker! This award-winning musical has become a popular hit with its thrilling score. Fasten your seatbelts for an irresistible and murderous tale!
