Keeping you safe as we reopen

4 May 2021

After much of the 2020 programme at Buxton Opera House was cancelled because of Covid-19, we are delighted to be working towards reopening on 8 July. With socially distanced performances from the prestigious Buxton International Festival, Gilbert and Sullivan week, and much more to look forward to later this year, we can’t wait to welcome you back.

Following the government’s roadmap to easing lockdown restrictions, we have been busy working to make sure you feel comfortable and confident returning to the theatre. A range of Covid-19 safety measures have been introduced to ensure that all our customers, staff, and volunteers are safe.

While we can’t wait to open the doors to our audiences who we have missed so much, we need to make sure that you can feel safe in the theatre. We have therefore been working tirelessly with our specialist Health and Safety advisors on how we can best protect and serve our audiences.

You can now expect several safety measures when they arrive at the theatre. You will be sent a pre-show email which will tell you when you need to need to arrive for a performance to allow for social distancing, which door to use for where you are sitting and where you can purchase drinks from. There will also be information about what other health and safety processes are in place such as temperature scans, face coverings and cleaning procedures. While the Box Office is open, customers are being encouraged to book online in advance and if calling into the opera house to use cards for transactions as much as possible. You can find details of all our Covid-19 safety procedures on our booking information page.

From fever screening temperature scanners, to hand sanitiser stations, there’s no escaping that things will look a little different, but the excitement and thrill of being at Buxton Opera House remains the same.

We’ve so many exciting productions coming up and we can’t wait to share them with you.
