Harpists Jess Hughes and Angharad Huw recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music. Their name, Tegid Duo, is inspired by the legend of Llyn Tegid - the story of how Bala Lake in North Wales was formed, and how a Welsh harpist's life was spared by the gods, who wanted to punish Bala's monarch, the greedy Kind Tegid Foel, for his evil ways.

Jess Hughes graduated in 2022 after studying with Eira Lynn Jones. She also completed an intensive one-year Master of Music degree at the RNCM in 2023, studying with Anne-Marie O'Farrell. Based in Manchester, Jess balances a busy freelance career, which includes regularly performing as a soloist, orchestral player, chamber musician, and wedding harpist. She is also a passionate harp teacher, giving lessons privately and for students at Cheadle Hulme School. Jess is grateful for the aid of the Royal Philharmonic Society which has helped her to purchase a concert grand harp.

Welsh Harpist Angharad Huw graduated in 2023 and was awarded the Musicales Prize on graduation. She studied with Eira Lynn Jones and Dr Anne-Marie O'Farrell, and was previously a member of Junior RNCM, where she was awarded the Rotary Prize for Performance and the John Ellis Memorial Prize. She now enjoys a varied freelance career of performing with orchestras across the North West, tutoring at the King's School in Chester, playing at weddings and events, and giving solo and chamber recitals across the UK.

Together the duo has held concerts in Greater Manchester and Cheshire, delighting audiences with harp duets ranging from familiar classical pieces to folk music. They often arrange songs for two harps and have previously impressed cohorts of young people at the Bridgewater Hall with their rendition of Adele's Easy on Me for two harps.
