About Róisín Fleming
Róisín Fleming is a pianist originally from Cork, Ireland, and currently based in Manchester. As a soloist, she particularly enjoys playing Baroque repertoire and contemporary works, with a special focus on music by living Irish composers. She has played with the Gebbels Piano Trio since its formation in 2022 and is a member of the jazz fusion group Femme de la Femme.
Róisín began her studies in 2009 at the MTU Cork School of Music, where she was awarded numerous scholarships and bursaries for her distinguished exam and competition performances. She regularly won prizes at Feis Maitiú in Cork and Feis Ceoil in Dublin. Through the Cork School of Music she received masterclasses from pianists Vladimir Tropp and Rebecca Cap.
Since 2022, Róisín has been a student at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, under the tutelage of Professor Frank Wibaut. She is closely involved with the college's new music projects, having premiered several pieces by her colleagues in the School of Composition, including pieces for piano and electronics and for a six-piece piano ensemble. As a continuo player, Róisín has joined the RNCM String Orchestra on harpsichord, under the direction of acclaimed violinist Henning Kraggerud. In 2024, she played keyboard in the college's Make It Up As We Go Along improvisation ensemble, directed by trumpeter Byron Wallen.
Also a keen cellist, Róisín studied in Cork with Christopher Marwood. She was Principal Cellist with the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and a member of the Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra.
