Fresh from their success as the 2025 International Champions, Peak Opera return to the Festival with a new production of Ruddigore.

This comic opera blends melodrama, romance, and a touch or the supernatural as the cursed Murgatroyd family grapples with the obligation to commit a daily crime or face the wrath of their ancestral ghosts.

The story follows the timid Sir Ruthven, who has escaped his family's dark legacy by living in disguise. When Ruthven's true identity is revealed, the plot takes a delightfully topsy-turvy turn, complete with haunted portraits, scheming villagers, and plenty of Gilbertian twists.

With its lively score, atmospheric setting, and sharp humour, Ruddigore offers an evening of engaging and good-spirited entertainment. Peak Opera will certainly be aiming high once again.
