About The Gondoliers - St Peter's Gilbert & Sullivan Society
Now in its 71st year, the St Peter's Gilbert & Sullivan Society, Ravenshead, continues to delight audiences with sparkling productions full of wit, warmth, and wonderful music.
Founded in 1954, the Society presents thoughtful, well-crafted performances to audiences in venues of all sizes. This year, the Society is joined by two members of the National Gilbert & Sullivan Company - director Stephen Godward and pianist Chris Flint.
The Gondoliers brings a lively blend of romance, mistaken identity, and sun-soaked Venetian charm. The story follows Marco and Giuseppe, two cheerful gondoliers who suddenly discover that one of them is the long-lost heir to the throne of Barataria - but which one?
Complications arive with the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of Plaza-Toro and their daughter Casilda. With its spirited score, witty dialogue, and delightfully tangled plot, The Gondoliers promises an entertaining evening of classic Gilbert & Sullivan.
