We are delighted to welcome the York University Gilbert & Sullivan Society back to UNIFest.

This year they present The Yeomen of the Guard, set within the imposing walls of the Tower of London. The opera unfolds a story of love, honour, and deception, following the fate of Colonel Fairfax, wrongly condemned and awaiting excecution, and the lengths his friends will go to in order to save him.

Unlike many other G&S works, The Yeomen of the Guard adopts a more serious tone, weaving moments of genuine emotion through its drama while still making room for the humour audiences expect. With its rich score, atmospheric setting, and thoughtfully drawn characters, The Yeomen of the Guard promises a compelling and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon's entertainment.
