About Voices of the Peaks – Satellite Singing Project

The Buxton Opera House Creates Satellite Project is generously funded by Arts Council Englahs and provides workshops within schools across the High Peak, giving children the opportunity to participate in the arts.

This term we are delighted to partner with Hannah Brine and Jenni Watson to bring an intergenerational performance of Voices of the Peaks.

Voices of the Peaks is a new choral suite by Hannah Brine and Jenni Watson, celebrating 75 years of the Peak District National Park (2026). Across six movements, composers Hannah and Jenni explore the landscape and the lives intertwined with it: rivers that powered industry, stones that hold ancient stories, and hills that offer space for reflection and a sense of home.

Today's performance brings together Bollington Singers, Didsbury Singers, and High Peak Singers (all part of the Hannah Brine Choir family). They are joined by young singers from Harpur Hill Primary School and Burbage Primary School who have rehearsed with Elle Hibbert and Tom Newall over the last seven weeks.

Bringing adult and young voices together gives the music's themes of connection and belonging a shared expression, with different generations finding their place in the same musical landscape.

We are accompanied by Ed Simpson on piano.
