We've been nominated for the UK Theatre Workforce Award 2024!
26 Sept 2024News Story
Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre are delighted to have received a nomination for UK Theatre's Workforce Award, as part of the 2024 shortlist.
The Workforce Award recognises work that specifically promotes a commitment to professional development, improving organisational culture or the opening of entry routes to off stage roles.
As an organisation, we pride ourselves on championing professional development on the doorstep of the High Peak. Opportunities provided by our Learning & Engagement department such as our Work Experience programme and Technical Youth Theatre provide a gateway for local young people interested in a career in the arts. Alongside these initiatives, our community productions provide a platform for aspiring performers and creatives to gain experience in a professional large-scale production.
In recent years, we have seen a number of our participants and staff go on to train professionally in performance and technical theatre, following their engagement with these projects. We are proud to support the industry workforce of the future and to develop career pathways within our isolated communities.
We would like to extend our thanks to UK Theatre for recognising our work through this nomination. To find out more about how you can get involved, please visit our Learning & Engagement page or apply to take part in our upcoming community production, One Night in Buxton.
“We are delighted we have been nominated for the Workforce Award. We are committed to nurturing young people and community members who will become our future industry professionals. It is a privilege to be able to start them out on exciting creative and technical pathways, to guide them along the journey and then celebrate their achievements.”
