Friday at the Jazz Weekender means a full day of live music, discovery and atmosphere. from lunchtime to late night.

With four performances taking place inside the buzzing Palace Hotel jazz club, prepare to soak up everything from lush lyricism to explosive improv.

The brilliant Andrew McCormack Trio gets the day started, followed by a spectacular double bill of great jazz lineage. Zoë Gilby with Andy Champion celebrate the timeless music of Duke Ellington, before the Johnny Hunter Trio featuring Nat Birchall dive deep into the rhythmic fire of Elvin Jones.

Friday evening brings the Brazilian flair and charisma of the Mario Bakuna Band, and the night rounds out with Josephine Davies and her Satori Quartet joined by the incomparable Alcyona Mick. A genuine feast of musicianship and groove awaits.

Now in its fifth year, the jazz programme continues to evolve, bringing together artists whose styles range from soulful and reflective to bold, inventive and rhythmically electric. The Jazz Weekender programme is shaped by world class musicianship, improvisation, storytelling and that unmistakable sense of spontaneity that only live jazz can deliver.

Whether joining for a single day or settling in for the full weekend, audiences will find an atmosphere filled with warmth, creativity, and the buzzing joy of live performance. It is a chance to hear music that moves, surprises and celebrates the breadth or the UK jazz scene, all in a unique Buxton setting.
