How to find us

Buxton is easy to reach from the A6, A515 and A53. The theatre is well sign-posted once you reach the town centre. 

If you are using a Sat Nav to help you get to Buxton, please use the postcode SK17 6XN for Buxton Opera House and SK17 6BE for the Pavilion Arts Centre.

Parking

There is free parking after 6pm in the car park behind Pavilion Gardens, a short walk from both venues (Please note: the covered area of the car park closes at 6pm). There is also free on-street car parking after 6pm close to the theatre, but please make sure that you avoid the Residents Parking Scheme areas.

There is additional evening and weekend parking (dates tbc) at Palace Fields, Buxton SK17 6AF – please leave some money in the honesty box!

Electric car charging is available at The Lee Wood Hotel and The Old Manse Guesthouse at the discretion of the guesthouse/hotel.

Accessible Parking

There are 2 disabled parking spaces outside Buxton Opera House on The Square (Water Street) but it is possible to offload adjacent to the forecourt.

There are 8 disabled car parking bays on the lower level of the Pavilion Gardens car park off Burlington Road. This is approximately 320 metres away from Buxton Opera House and 160 metres away from the Pavilion Arts Centre/Buxton Cinema.

There are 4 at Sylvan Car Park at the end of Spring Gardens and 26 in the car park behind The Springs Shopping Centre.

There are 5 disabled parking spaces outside the Town Hall on the Market Place Car Park, 15 outside the Town Hall by The Slopes and 6 on the Cattle Market Car Park at the top of Market Street. 

Trains

The train station is a ten minute walk from the Opera House and operates a regular service from Manchester Piccadilly calling at all stations to Buxton. For more information on available services and any service updates visit: www.northernrail.org

Buses

The town is well served by bus routes to and from local cities, towns and villages. The main bus stops are located on the market place in Higher Buxton, a five minute walk from the theatre. 

High Peak Buses operate local bus services from Glossop, Stockport, Ashbourne, Derby, Manchester and Sheffield. The Skyline199 service operates until late 7 days a week, connecting Buxton with Stockport, Hazel Grove, New Mills and Disley. For details of times, fares and maps please see www.highpeakbuses.com.

Cycles

There are 24 cycle storage stands at the railway station. When the ticket office is closed please return your key to the drop box at the Bike shelter in the station.
