Mr Jericho

This is a rare opportunity to see the Savoy curtain-raiser Mr Jericho, written by Harry Greenbank with music by Sullivan protégé Ernest Ford.

First produced as a companion piece to Haddon Hall in 1893, this work for five singers is one of very few original curtain raisers whose score and libretti are still available, making it a fascinating glimpse into a theatrical format all but forgotten today.

The impoverished Earl of Margate and his son live in disguise, with the latter working as an omnibus driver, until an accident with the bus leads to a series of chance meetings that could change their fortunes forever.
