We are excited to announce a new opportunity for you to get involved at Buxton Opera House in our 2024 production of Evita!
Following the success of Little Shop of Horrors earlier this year, we are delighted to offer the local community another opportunity to get involved, this time in the hit musical Evita. We are looking for local performers to take part, providing the chance to work with director Paul Kerryson, alongside a professional creative and technical team to support the cast and share expertise.
The musical follows the story of the young and ambitious Eva Perón’s meteoric rise to sainthood. Set in Argentina between 1934-1952, Eva Duarte’s journey moves from poor illegitimate child to ambitious actress to, as wife of military leader-turned-president Juan Peròn, the most powerful woman in Latin America. How will Eva Perón deal with this rise to power?
With music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice (the creative geniuses behind Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar), the musical has become a firm favourite within the musical community.
The 7-Tony Award winning musical features songs Requiem for Evita, A New Argentina and notably the ballad of Eva Perón Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.
