Buxton Opera House is taking part in this year's Heritage Open Days on Saturday 10 September 2022.
The Opera House opens its doors to celebrate the heritage, community and history of this iconic venue. Take a look inside one of the country’s finest examples of a Frank Matcham theatre design. Try the view from the Gods, sit in one of the boxes or simply admire the stunning decoration.
The doors will be open from 11am-3pm - entry is free and no booking is required! Our volunteers will be on hand to answer any burning questions you might have about the history of our beautiful theatre. Refreshments will be available in the Dress Circle bar.
Heritage Open Days is England's largest festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations. Every year in September it brings people together to celebrate their heritage, community and history. Stories are told, traditions explored, and histories brought to life. It’s your chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences – and it’s all FREE.
