New board members bring their expertise to Buxton Opera House.

Posted: 1 October 2019

High Peak Theatre Trust is welcoming new members to the board of trustees. The new board members will be contributing their valuable skills to Buxton Opera House and its future development.

Two of the newest members include Roddie MacLean and Angela Philips. Roddie MacLean is well known in the High Peak area, having been a director at Buxton Town Team and Chair at Vision Buxton. Roddie will be bringing his knowledge of heritage projects from his years of experience as a chartered architect.

Angela Philips comes to the board with extensive experience in finance at a senior board level. Angela was Director of Finance at the University of Bradford and has also worked extensively in the NHS. She became a spokesperson for NHS Stockport, outlining the financial challenges faced by the Primary Care Trust.

Both Roddie and Angela join recent additions to the board including Nicholas Jeffrey whose executive career began in Buxton. Nicholas has particular expertise in the retail and the commercial sector. He has guided businesses through strategic change management and has overseen transformational business growth.

A familiar face to the board is Keith Savage who will act as a representative for High Peak Borough Council. Keith is no stranger to being on the High Peak Theatre Trust board having served for two terms in 1995 and 2011. Keith has been part of the cultural landscape in Buxton for many years. From being the chair of Buxton Festival Fringe to his work with Buxton Film, Keith’s name is synonymous with the arts in the High Peak area.

High Peak Theatre Trust’s Chair Judy Simons welcomed the new appointments “With exciting times ahead for Buxton Opera House, I am pleased to have such wealth of expertise on the board to help guide us into the future”.

The new board members, working alongside the Chief Executive, will help secure the future of our beautiful Opera House for years to come.
