The Opera House has a number of bars serving a wide range of drinks and snacks pre-show and during intervals. The Dress Circle Bar opens at least 45 minutes before a performance so you can relax and enjoy a drink in the sumptuous surroundings of Frank Matcham’s exquisite theatre. The Dress Circle Bar also offers a range of speciality, small batch gins, served with matched mixers and garnishes to tickle your taste-buds.
We believe firmly in supporting local businesses, which is why at all of our bars you can find local beers, produced down the road by Thornbridge Brewery as well as light and refreshing sparkling wine from our local winery at Renishaw Hall. We’re also proud to offer delicious artisan chocolates made right here in Derbyshire.
Quality tea and coffee can also be bought from all our bars and we pride ourselves in only serving hot drinks that are certified fair trade. If you’re looking for something a little colder, delicious ice creams can be bought from all levels of the theatre during the intervals.
We accept card and cash payments in all the bars, except the ice cream stands which are cash only.
We care about the environment - all plastic glasses, cups and lids are compostable or biodegradable. We use Vegeware or paper straws.
Should you wish to make your time with us that bit more special, The Dress Circle Bar can be hired for special events or drinks receptions. To find out more, contact [email protected].
From early 2022 we will be opening our brand new VIP lounge.
For just £15 per person you can enjoy exclusive access to the VIP lounge one hour before the performance and during the interval.
You will receive a drink of your choice on arrival, and you can also pre-order interval drinks to beat the bar queues and relax in style.
To book your place, simply add on at the checkout when purchasing your tickets, or call our Box Office on 01298 72190.
Please note: the VIP lounge is accessed via five flights of stairs and unfortunately there is no lift or level access for wheelchairs.
