The Opera House has a number of bars serving a wide range of drinks and snacks pre-show and during intervals. The Dress Circle Bar opens at least 45 minutes before a performance so you can relax and enjoy a drink in the sumptuous surroundings of Frank Matcham’s exquisite theatre. The Dress Circle Bar also offers a range of speciality, small batch Gins, served with matched mixers and garnishes to tickle your taste-buds.
We believe firmly in supporting local businesses, which is why at all of our bars you can find local beers, produced down the road by Thornbridge Brewery as well as light and refreshing sparkling wine from our local winery at Renishaw Hall. We’re also proud to offer delicious artisan chocolates made right here in Derbyshire.
Quality Tea and Coffee can also be bought from all our bars and we pride ourselves in only serving hot drinks that are certified fair trade. If you’re looking for something a little colder, delicious Ice Creams can be bought from all levels of the Theatre during the intervals.
At the moment we’re undergoing some exciting changes in our bars. Unfortunately this means we’re temporarily only able to accept cash.
Should you wish to make your time with us that bit more special, The Dress Circle Bar can be hired for special events or drinks receptions. To find out more, contact email@example.com.
Children's Snack Boxes
During children's events at the Opera House we sell snack boxes that contain Pom Bears, a handmade milk chocolate lollipop and a carton of juice.
These can be pre-ordered when you buy your theatre tickets (up to 24 hours before the performance) or are available to purchase from the Opera House bars.
Pre and post-show dining
Many of the local restaurants and hotels serve pre and post theatre meals. Our colleagues at the Pavilion Gardens Restaurant offer pre-show dining on some events and this is advertised in the brochure and on individual event pages of the website. Simply make a reservation for pre-show dining at the same time as you buy your theatre tickets. We don't take any payment for your meal, the Pavilion Gardens team will contact you to confirm your reservation.
