We are excited to announce a new opportunity for you to get involved at Buxton Opera House, as the sequel to our previous production Deep is taking place in 2024!
Back in January 2020 (before the world turned upside down), a play for Buxton acted by local performers took to the stage at Buxton Opera House. Deep was an original piece written by Rob Young inspired by the myths of mermaids and the flowing waters of Buxton. A play in which a boy saved a mermaid and was saved in return…
We have now commissioned a brand-new play, written again by Rob and directed by Kitty Randle, this time inspired by local stories from the town of Buxton. A tale about a stranger, love, dreams, books, a community, dogs – everyone has a story to tell.
We are looking to create a community ensemble to bring this play to life. If you are aged 17-100, have performance experience (or not!) or are interested in performing we want to hear from you. Auditions will take place on Sunday 24 September and will begin with a workshop at 10am. There is no need to prepare anything specific, just bring yourself along!
